Retro Ringer Series – Wangi Station Welcome Cap
A cap that carries a story from the old days, when mustering was done on horseback, kids pulled their weight, and life was as raw as it gets.
The Retro Ringer Series is all about honoring the past, and this Wangi Station Edition does just that. Made with heavy-duty fabric, sturdy mesh, a bold Dusty Creek Retro Ringer patch, and classic rope detail, it’s built tough—just like the ringers who came before us.
But the real treasure? The story under the brim.
📸 Under-Brim Photo:
This 1970s muster at Wangi Station is as retro as it gets—no bikes, no choppers, barely any adults. Just a good horse, a battered cowboy hat, and a crew of kids doing the hard work.
Walking across the yards is Aunty Donna, while Robert Townsend sits on horseback. Blondie on the horse? That’s Aunty Theresa, alongside Tony Izod and Freddy Corpus.
Wangi was a balance of sandy country and wetlands, full of creeks, billabongs, and floodplains. The airboat made an appearance when needed, imported from the States to get through the swampy country, but most of the mustering was done on horseback—just the way it should be.
This cap is a tribute to the past, the bush, and the kids who learned life’s toughest lessons in the dust of a cattle yard.
