Its Sunday morning, 5.30 am, hairs all a mess, coffee number 2 in my palms. Wrapped in a warm check blanket, I sit on the veranda, book in one hand, coffee in the other. This is my quiet time. My me time. As a mum we all dire for this peaceful little moment, some of us get it, most of us don’t! As a parent, time is an indulgence… but time free from the kids or the hubby or work or jobs or bills or school drop offs, lunches, washing… the list goes ON!

Heritage..
In my life I have had many inspirational women that have blessed me with their gold coins of wisdom, and I wear them like pearls around my heart in all the challenges I face. These inspire me to stay a good mum, to keep uppa despite the odds. To stay true, stay honest and keep it classy. One other woman among my many is my Aunty Kaye, this is where I must learn to get out of my comfort zone and bring COLOUR to my Dusty brand,, because oh man my Aunty Kaye is COLOURFUL. She is the most wonderful woman I know. She is all about family, food and FUN. She is loud, she is BRIGHT and she is wonderful.
My story...
Growing up in an American family (Deep South proper from the wetlands of Florida!) life was all about family and food. And with the Townsends it certainly was all about food! But I remember vividly the fashion, the retro shirts that my beautiful Aunty Modena and my grandmother used to make me and my cousins. I remember a bright mustard yellow long sleeve shirt that my grandma made me once with pearl snap buttons and western yokes and pockets.. she made it so bright for me and in her words exactly “now sugar, this is if you fall off out there mustering them cows, that we can spot you in the scrub” loved her faith in my riding abilities!

"I grew up in the front seat of a bull catcher next to my dad. Usually in a cardboard box, cut out for shade on the top. This was nothing unusual for territory kids, parents didnt stop the action and fun stuff when they had kids in the old days, they had to just keep up and tag along everywhere. Many of my oldest memories are in a machine perched up on a tucker box or asleep on the floor below my Dads feet. As the first child, i just had to adapt and fit in, like a pocket pet, id fit anywhere and sleep anywhere and survive off anything."
