Our story
Dusty Creek is a homegrown business created in 2012 starting as a rural life photographer and come again clothing brand in 2019 starting with trucker caps. Jess, owner and founder & her daughter Lacey hail from the NT with Jess working & living on the land most of her life until she started Dusty Creek.
Dusty Creek becoming a brand started as an idea to promote a dusty life with her camera by capturing real people in her caps & clothing on the land. No models, no fake, no gammon perfect poses at all! Just her camera, a dusty paddock & some dusty gear captured on her family and friends. And an inner desire to build something worth leaving behind. A legacy for her daughter of handwork & a lot of risk it for the biscuit!
After busting her backside for 5 years in retail, the last 12 months Jess has stepped back from the pace of a shop life, closed her store, sold the boutique Fancey’s, focused on her brand, her product quality, her brand direction, get back to the roots of why she started Dusty Creek & get back to basics of what is genuinely truly her passion: promoting a rural life with her camera and creating products the people who live a dusty life can rely on, wear and love. She also stopped and took a breath, got some clarity, focused on her health, on being a better mother, and met her partner Cameron who has swept her off her feet and recently proposed – their engagement is very new news!!
Now, it’s a family of three at Dusty Creek, Cameron brings to the party a fencing & yard building business which takes them all over QLD, as well as being a Chopper Pilot. This keeps Jess on her toes juggling cooking, fencing, bookkeeping, getting stores downtown and consumables as well as making time each day to design products, get back to customer emails, set up systems on the website, content creation and continue to bring you amazing, new styles of caps, fishing shirts and clothing.
They have recently moved their order packing to the big smoke, to keep up with the pace and try to conserve the cost of shipping and partnered up with a third-party logistics company that ship all their orders to you. They are still ironing out wrinkles to get it flowing but have found this has freed them up to live anywhere and have now relocated to north QLD, a couple hours out of Charters Towers.
Jess has always loved capturing everything she sees and has started her own side gig PONY EXPRESS to be her own person outside the dusty world of caps and do a little more of what she loves.
Stay tuned as they hit the market scene hard up the coast and get their brand out to you face to face at markets in the north. Follow along and like their pages on all social platforms @dustycreekaustralia @cleruralptyltd @ponyexpress_au to keep up with where there at and them living their best life, a dusty one.
